Today I like to introduce this cool little web application that lists the best barbershops in the city that you are located in. Other than your city, you are able to browse the best barbershops in any city in the world. The tool is called Barberhead.
The results are ordered by a mixture of the popularity, rating score and reviews of a barbershop. This means it can be safely established that the results at the top are the best barbershops in the city that you’re looking for.
When you select the barbershop that interests you, you will be able to view more details of the barbershop.
The detailed page shows images of hair cuts and the interior of the barbershop. It also lists the phone number and website of the barbershop so you can do more research about the shop or directly book your appointment via the phone number.
Another awesome feature of Barberhead is that you are able to submit your suggestions for any city.
This create a more complete experience since the barbershop results are sourced from Google, Foursquare and visitors of Barberhead.com
Describing your preferred haircut to a new barber can be frustrating if you don’t know the correct terms. You also don’t know if the barber is well educated in creation of the hairstyle that you want. A barbershop has many barbers, getting a random barber can feel like a huge gamble, especially when you value a good cut.
These are the main reasons why I created this list so you can get what you want from the best barber in your local shop.
1. Bring a picture
It’s ok to bring a picture to your local barber if you’re unsure.

In fact, they actually prefer it if you bring a picture. The alternative would be a bad cut that could have been mitigated by showing an example.
If you can’t find the perfect picture that represents your cut, I highly suggest brining the picture that is most similar. Describe the changes that you want to the cut that is shown in the picture in your barber.
Do you want the top shorter?
Or maybe a lower skin-fade?
Show the picture and describe what you want different!
2. Ask for the best barber
This one definitely applies for you gents that are looking for a new barbershop or that like to switch it up from time to time.
These days it is very easy to get in contact with a barbershop. Most barbershops require you to make an appointment anyway. Give them a call or contact them via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
Before confirming the appointment I highly suggest asking a few questions to the person that picks up the phone. Do you want a skin-fade? Ask the person which barber is the best in doing skin-fades. Want to do maintain your majestic beard? Ask which barber is specialised in beards.
This is totally OK and the barbershop will more than willingly in helping you which barber fits what you want.
3. Check their social media activity
Head out to the official barbershop’s social media accounts, we prefer checking out their Instagram. Most barbers are active on Instagram and love to show off their latest clean cuts. Facebook is also fine but won’t be as active in most cases.

Find the haircut you like and read through the description of the picture. A lot of pages include the barber that cut the hair in the description or the comment section.
Want the exact same cut? Show the picture to your barber or ask who cut the hair. I swear, they don’t mind! Barbershops always want to provide what you want.
4. Read the reviews
This may require more work but this one is definitely essential in finding the best barber or barbershop. Check the reviews via Google, Facebook and Yelp.

Visit one of the suggested websites to check the reviews and skim through it.
In some cases, people describe certain barbers that are the best at what they do. Use this valuable information to pick the barber that gets to cut your hair.
5. Describe your cut in detail
The most obvious choice is to describe what you want in detail. Forget the fancy terms that barbers use. Want long hair on the top and a fade on the sides? Describe how this and how long you want your hair.
Showing a picture is always the easiest solution when you want a new cut, if you can’t for whatever reason. Try to use as many words as possible to describe what you want ๐
